Seven out of ten public school fourth graders cannot read at grade level in the United States. The Wonder of Reading seeks to change that dismal statistic. Over 130,000 elementary-age youngsters throughout Greater Los Angeles attend our 205 partner schools. Each school has a beautifully renovated library, restocked with $10,000 of new books. More than 5,000 volunteers have been trained as literacy mentors for struggling students at these schools.
